Janga Wins the Pet Photo Contest!
Janga resting on the couch after winning Sandy's first My Best Friend Photo Contest |
Thank you Sandy!
I enjoyed meeting you for the first time last year and look forward to seeing you again! Janga is an absolute delight!
- Cindy
This year's theme was "Adorability" and proved to be a very difficult contest to review according to all three Judges at various times.
Sandy hand selected this year's team of judges which included Dexter DelMonte, Allison Sherman, and Lisa Hutchinson. (Judge profile links found to the right of this post, Meet the Judges.)

I would like to thank all the Judges, Lisa, Allison and Dexter for taking the time to judge my first pet photo contest, My Best Friend Photo Contest with the theme, “Adorability.”
You did a great job and I must say that
I'm glad that it was you choosing and not me. It would have been extremely difficult for me to
make a choice for “Most Adorable” since all of the contestants are beautiful
and sweet.
You all are very dear and special to me.
Love,
Sandy

The Final Decision is in the Paper Bag!
"Since no one could agree on a final winner for "Most Adorable," said Sandy, "I decided we'd do it the old fashioned way. I had Lisa, Allison, and Dexter pull names out of a paper bag."
But even that wasn't as easy as Sandy had hoped. "They had to pick twice before there was a match!"
The winner of the contest will receive their personal e-notification along with their certificate for a free, 30 minute Reading. The winning e-mail will be sent out a few hours before the announcement will be made public on Facebook on January 31st!

Judge DelMonte Tells Why She Chose The Way She Did
"Choosing was not easy!," said Judge Dexter DelMonte in a brief e-interview this evening. "The Siamese twins, (Schindler and Eisenheim), with those big blue eyes were absolutely, undeniably adorable!
And Josephina and Buddy were darling as can be...but that big old ball in Buttercup's mouth took my vote away!"

It happened early this morning - the
dreaded stalemate for "Most Adorable."
“We've
been concerned should this happen - and it did!" Sandy told the Marketing
Department via a phone call, "We're ready with how to choose a winner.”

8 Days to Announcing the Winner!
Now that the Judges have made their Top Picks for Round 2, it looks like there might be a winner but then again, Round 3 has not begun so anything could happen.
The Marketing Department is at work creating the graphics for the winning certificate and working on the announcement letter that will go out via MailChimp plus the personalized announcement to the winner, (which will have to be communicated by the Best Friend's guardian - probably via a big hug).
"I'm certainly glad I don't have to pick," mumbled the Graphics Department. One member from marketing had to recuse themselves in light of being partial to equines. Another team member expressed their disappointment that no reptiles were present in the contest. "I would have liked to have seen an iguana or some sort of lizard. Definitely a rescued tortoise or water turtle would have been great." While another teammate mentioned something about "bats."
"I guess the biggest disappointment for the department is that we were hoping that with so much diversity that Sandy would let us approach Ellen (DeGeneres) as the fourth judge in case there was a stalemate," said the head of Marketing. "But it looks like the Judges and Sandy came to a solution last night during a meeting."
When asked if the department had any clues as to the decision for Round 1, they shrugged their shoulder and sighed, "It's anyone's guess. It could be a slam-dunk or a contest coagulation... Either way, we'll be ready for announcing a winner on time through Twitter, Facebook and Blogger."

JUDGE DELMONTE PUSHES AHEAD TO ROUND 2!
In a surprise e-mail opened by the Marketing Department today, Los Angeles Animal Communicator and internationally recognized spiritual healer, educator and artist, Judge Dexter DelMonte, reveals her two Top Picks for Round 2!
"We didn't think we'd hear from the Judges for another couple of days," said a team member of the department, "We just sent out the request for Round 2 choices yesterday!"
Due to her in-demand schedule, at the time of this post, Sandy Smith was unavailable for comment to Judge DelMonte's decision.

JUDGE HUTCHINSON'S TOP PICKS FOR ROUND 1!
Judge Lisa Hutchinson |
With Judge Lisa Hutchinson's results just in, what seemed like a simple contest based on the concept of "best friend" and "adorable" is turning complicated very quickly. (To view Judge Hutchinson's Top Picks for Round 1, click here.)
Giving strict instructions, Sandy told each judge not to discuss or read about the other's decision during the first of three rounds of the judging process. The results have been a nice variety of contenders for the number one spot.
While speaking with the Marketing Department this morning, Sandy expressed her concerns about choosing a winner on time. "I thought this was going to be easy. That everyone would choose pretty much the same way." she said. "I thought we'd have a winner very quickly. Now I'm concerned that we need more time." Acknowledging Sandy's concerns, the Marketing Department reassured her that they are up to the challenge, "It's delicious!", they responded, letting Sandy know that the department was up until 1 a.m. looking at various survey and polling apps for a possible Peoples' Choice decision.

Although Sandy likes the polling idea, (one previous discussed last week between her and Marketing), the caveat is that with less than 2 weeks away from an announcement of a final winner, and the fact that the Judges have completed their first round out of three, a survey may have to be used in the next pet photo contest.
(Ideas are already underway for the next contest. Sandy is thinking about running her second pet photo competition in the spring. However, she has also proposed that it might be better to have one pet photo contest per year - which would make this contest the first of an annual January event.)

Judge Dexter DelMonte proposed several solutions in case the Judges cannot reach an agreement, (which could very well happen). Among one of the ideas is to bring in a fourth judge. The Marketing Department quickly responded to DelMonte's idea with their dream Judge - an animal lover in her own right - and beloved to fans worldwide. But before disclosing Marketing's choice for a 4th and Final Judge for the pet photo contest, Marketing has seeded the idea and placed that ball back into the Judges' court.
Check back in a few days for Judges DelMonte's, Sherman's, and Hutchinson's top 2 picks for Round 2 and what their solution will be in case there is a stalemate over the final winner in Sandy Smith's Pet Photo Contest.
