With Judge Lisa Hutchinson's results just in, what seemed like a simple contest based on the concept of "best friend" and "adorable" is turning complicated very quickly. (To view Judge Hutchinson's Top Picks for Round 1, click here.)
Giving strict instructions, Sandy told each judge not to discuss or read about the other's decision during the first of three rounds of the judging process. The results have been a nice variety of contenders for the number one spot.
While speaking with the Marketing Department this morning, Sandy expressed her concerns about choosing a winner on time. "I thought this was going to be easy. That everyone would choose pretty much the same way." she said. "I thought we'd have a winner very quickly. Now I'm concerned that we need more time." Acknowledging Sandy's concerns, the Marketing Department reassured her that they are up to the challenge, "It's delicious!", they responded, letting Sandy know that the department was up until 1 a.m. looking at various survey and polling apps for a possible Peoples' Choice decision.

Although Sandy likes the polling idea, (one previous discussed last week between her and Marketing), the caveat is that with less than 2 weeks away from an announcement of a final winner, and the fact that the Judges have completed their first round out of three, a survey may have to be used in the next pet photo contest.
(Ideas are already underway for the next contest. Sandy is thinking about running her second pet photo competition in the spring. However, she has also proposed that it might be better to have one pet photo contest per year - which would make this contest the first of an annual January event.)

Judge Dexter DelMonte proposed several solutions in case the Judges cannot reach an agreement, (which could very well happen). Among one of the ideas is to bring in a fourth judge. The Marketing Department quickly responded to DelMonte's idea with their dream Judge - an animal lover in her own right - and beloved to fans worldwide. But before disclosing Marketing's choice for a 4th and Final Judge for the pet photo contest, Marketing has seeded the idea and placed that ball back into the Judges' court.
Check back in a few days for Judges DelMonte's, Sherman's, and Hutchinson's top 2 picks for Round 2 and what their solution will be in case there is a stalemate over the final winner in Sandy Smith's Pet Photo Contest.
